Behavioral Health

Refer to mental health, psychiatric care, marriage and family therapy as well as substance abuse counseling. Mental health determines how we handle stress, relate to others and make choices. Over the course of our lives many of us will experience stress and trauma. It is important that we manage our mental health with the same vigor as we do our physical health.

Substance Abuse Treatment Program

This outpatient substance abuse treatment program provides up to ASAM level II.1 treatment services that are client centered and trauma informed.  RCA has a multidisciplinary team of licensed therapists, certified addiction counselors and peer support staff that are trained to use evidenced based interventions and practices such as Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. The treatment curriculum includes the Matrix Model substance abuse treatment program and Seeking Safety, a Treatment Manual for PTSD and Substance Abuse.

Psychiatric Services

Play an intricate role in the behavioral health system. Under the care of a psychiatric practitioner, our patients are able to access behavioral and diagnostic assessments, treatment and medication management for a range of mental health disorders. The list includes, but is not limited to, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, and attention deficit disorder.

Sexual Health

This is a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being in relation to sexuality. It encompasses STI education, testing and treatment. In addition to sexual health services, RCA Community Health Center also offers the very best in family planning education and services. We want to ensure that all of our patients have a positive and respectful approach to sexuality as well as the resources and ability to determine when they are ready to start a family.

HIV Prevention: Testing, PrEP, and PEP

We are committed to supporting local, state, and national initiatives working to end the HIV epidemic through providing comprehensive HIV prevention and treatment services.

PrEP: Pre-exposure prophylaxis is a HIV prevention option that works by taking one pill every day. When taken as prescribed, PrEP is proven to be highly effective towards preventing the transmission of HIV. The RCA Community Health Center in partnership with Avita Pharmacy, offer our patients PrEP services which include education, lab testing and medication management.

PEP:  Post-Exposure prophylaxis works by taking antiretroviral medicines (ART) after being potential exposed to HIV to prevent becoming infected.  PEP must be started within 72 hours after the incident occurred to be effective.

HIV/HCV Prevention Services

RCA, Inc.’s comprehensive, high impact HIV and Hepatitis C testing program is designed to provide individuals aged who are unaware of their status or those at high risk of HIV and Hepatitis C, testing and linkage to prevention, care and treatment services.  This includes testing, education, condom distribution and literature.

All individuals are provided access to care and treatment, additional linkages and referrals as needed.  We utilize rapid testing technologies offering same day results provided in as few as 20 minutes.  Walk-In HIV/HCV Screenings are provided at both clinic locations and frequently throughout the Metropolitan Atlanta community.
