History

History

Recovery Consultants of Atlanta, Inc. (RCA) is a private non-profit, 501(c)(3) Recovery Community Organization founded in 1999 by a group of concerned, committed and spiritually centered members of the Metro-Atlanta’s 12-Step and faith-based addiction recovery communities. During the first decade of its existence, RCA developed innovative recovery support services for individuals and families in, at risk, or seeking recovery from substance use disorders.  RCA’s peer-led services were uniquely created to provide support across the continuum of recovery.  As the community need for treatment grew, RCA began to offer drug treatment simultaneously with peer support services.  These services included transitional housing, Recovery @ Work, and Better Parents=Better Kids.

During its second decade of existence, RCA implemented an array of comprehensive services promoting overall wellness.

RCA addressed gaps and disparities among those impacted by behavioral health disorders by advancing HIV, Hepatitis and substance use prevention, outpatient and residential treatment, linkage to medical care, housing, workforce development and recovery support services.

As RCA approached its fourteenth year of existence, it was clear the success it was having in identifying and rendering needed services to many disenfranchised groups. During this time the organization successfully attained accreditation from CARF, International and went on to realize a vision of providing a “one stop shop” by adding yet another service modality, the biggest in its history.

In 2013, the concept of providing holistic care to underserved communities was born and subsequently realized shortly thereafter when RCA was funded by HRSA as a Community Health Center. Today, RCA is one of thirty-four Federally Qualified Health Centers in Georgia providing preventive and primary health care including behavioral health and enabling services to individuals across the lifespan.
The integration of comprehensive preventive and primary medical care services now enhances and supplement all services being provided at RCA.

We are proud and committed to provide services which build on the strengths and resilience of individuals, families and communities to improve health, wellness and quality of life.
We aspire to provide an unforgettable experience as the most compassionate and trusted partner in the provision of your health care and human service needs.
